The Most Incredible, Energizing Celebrity Reactions to This Weekend's Women's Marches

Women and allies came out in force to demonstrate in the Women's Marches that took place all around the world this weekend. Photos from the event are filled with topical signs with slogans echoing conversations that have been necessary and dominant in social and cultural discourse this year: sexism, gender inequality, #MeToo, #TimesUp, LGBTQ+ rights, and the policies of President Donald Trump's administration toward health care, immigrants and the more-vulnerable-than-ever Dreamer community.

Celebrities also took to the streets to march and give some incredible speeches at the demonstrations. Many, like Jessica Chastain, are supporters and leaders in Hollywood's Time's Up movement, an initiative establishing a legal fund for victims of sexual harassment and assault. Their reactions to the marches on social media featured posts of them in the crowds, arm-in-arm with other activist celebs, and with encouraging calls to action (a common theme was a plea for voters to get out to the ballot boxes during this year's midterms). As for Chastain—who couldn't make it out due to a Saturday Night Live hosting gig—she showed her support in an incredibly powerful way.

Amber Tamblyn: turning out in full force with Time's Up

Adele (with Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lawrence, no less): "I am obsessed with all the women in my life. I adore them and need them more and more every day. I am so grateful to be a woman, I wouldn't change it for the world. I hope I'm not only defined by my gender though. I hope I'm defined by my input to the world, my ability to love and to have empathy. To raise my son to be a a good man alongside the good man who loves me for everything I am and am not."

Yara Shahidi: "👊🏽 A moment of unity amidst chaos to commit to fighting for each other/ to commit to standing for each other, intersections and all 👊🏽"

Alyssa Milano: "When women support each other... great things happen."

Jessica Chastain: singing "You Don't Own Me" during her SNL monologue.

The actress performed Lesley Gore's track as she pivoted from discussing her experience with casting in Hollywood to the anniversary of the Women's March. “I wish I could have been there, marching alongside them,” Chastain said. As awesome as that would have been, at least viewers got this moment, with cast members Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong joining her onstage.

Padma Lakshmi: "Everyone go vote!!!"

Reese Witherspoon: "March On, My Sisters ! Speak truth to Power. Today and everyday"

Katy Perry: "SHOUTOUT TO ALL MY GODDESSES THAT ARE CONTINUING THE RESISTANCE, STANDING UP FOR EQUALITY AND SPEAKING UP FOR ALL THE VOICELESS AND THE MARGINALIZED. I STAND WITH YOU EVERYDAY MY SISTERS ❤️✊🏻"

Hillary Clinton: "In 2017, the Women’s March was a beacon of hope and defiance. In 2018, it is a testament to the power and resilience of women everywhere. Let’s show that same power in the voting booth this year. #PowerToThePolls"

Halle Berry: "Teach our daughters less about fitting into glass slippers and more about shattering glass ceilings."
