These Are the Most Expensive Cities in Europe
These gorgeous European metropolises come with a hefty pricetag.
With its soaring rents, expensive public transportation and pricey restaurants, London has been named Europe's most expensive city to live in, according to Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
The next most expensive cities after London were Copenhagen, in Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden.
Helsinki and Dublin rounded out the top five.
Eurostat revealed the results of their research Monday, putting the U.K. capital in the lead for the dataset from 2015. Rents in London have remained high as purchasing power was pushed down, according to a report in the Financial Times in 2015, contributing to the high cost of living in the metropolitan hub.
Paris, a city known for luxury brands and high-expense living, came in at number six on the list.
The least inexpensive city in Europe was Sofia, Bulgaria.
Eurostat came to their findings by using correction coefficients, which incorporate cost of living data to ensure that EU civil servants have equivalent buying power across the continent.
