This Morning’s Alison Hammond has confirmed her current relationship status, revealing that she is "dating".

The presenter appeared on this week’s episode of podcast Parenting Hell to promote her first series of ITV’s For the Love of Dogs – and hosts Josh Widdicombe and Rob Beckett used the opportunity to quiz her about her love life.

Rob asked, "Are you single, Alison?", to which she replied, "No… I’m not single… I’m dating. I’m dating!"

Alison then opened up about the struggles of dating as a single parent, especially now that her 19-year-old son Aiden is now an adult.

"I think it’s more difficult now," she admitted, "because he is more verbal now that he is older. He’ll want to know who this person is and he’ll want to meet them. It’s a lot harder, because he’ll want to know that this guy is treating me well.

"The person who I am seeing at the moment, [Aiden] is on his Instagram and he is like, ‘Yeah, I like him, he’s not too in-your-face’. Aiden’s on it."

She then revealed that while Aiden hasn’t approved of her past relationships, things went well when he met her current partner.

She said: "When they actually met, he really liked him. He really thought he was lovely. So I was like, thank goodness for that! Because normally Aiden hates anybody I date, literally just not interested.

"And you just know at that point, if Aiden doesn’t like them, this isn’t gonna work. There are moments where I think, ‘Who’s the parent here?’ I do feel that sometimes. It’s nice though because it’s like I’ve got somebody always there protecting me, looking over me."

The Bake Off host recently reunited with Ryan Gosling as she interviewed him and co-star Emily Blunt for their new movie The Fall Guy – where she admitted that she fell asleep in the cinema while watching the film.

For the Love of Dogs airs on Tuesdays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
