Morning clouds give way to afternoon sunshine across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Wednesday, Utah! Mainly quiet skies are expected for today except for a weak system passing north of the state early this morning.

Bottom Line?! A weak system impacting northern Utah this morning will clear out this afternoon, and seasonal temperatures are expected.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies over northern Utah this morning and a few high-elevation showers are possible over the far northern mountain areas through midday, otherwise, the system moves east this afternoon and allows for sunshine to fill back in statewide.

Southern Utah won’t see any impacts from the passing storm and warming temperatures are expected with breezy winds. Highs will reach the mid-80s for St. George with low 60s for the Wasatch Front.

Temperatures will hold fairly steady for Thursday across the state as a westerly flow will be in place. Some high clouds are expected to slide into southern Utah, otherwise, it will be a wash, rinse, and repeat forecast through Friday.  Mainly sunny skies and temperatures roughly 10 degrees above average.

As we move into the weekend, temperatures will begin to warm as high pressure begins to build in across the western US. This will allow for mostly calm skies to persist as temperatures return to the 70s along the Wasatch Front by Sunday while St. George could see upper-80s by that point!
