Montrose Tribute to Aviation canceled

MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) — Montrose Regional Airport canceled the 2024 Tribute to Aviation due to global military events. MTJ officials said due to global events they weren’t able to secure enough military aircraft for the event.

In previous years, the Tribute to Aviation at Montrose Regional Airport has been a free event allowing the public to see military and civilian aircraft up close. A spokesperson for the airport said they’ve had B-52 Bombers, F-18s, military helicopters, and more at the event.

2024 won’t be the first year the event was canceled. The Tribute to Aviation was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Montrose County Director of Aviation Lloyd Arnold told WesternSlopeNow, “We canceled in 2020 due to COVID and we came back and had an amazing event—almost 30,000 people here to Montrose for that event. So it’ll come back bigger and better in 2025.”
