Montgomery County police say man involved in barricade started fires, assaulted officers

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Police said that a man who barricaded himself inside his home on Thursday evening set a “series of small fires” and assaulted officers.

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said that officers were called to the 3700 block of Glen Eagles Dr. around 10:10 p.m. for an assault between two men.

Officers tried to make contact with one of the men, but he attacked them before barricading himself inside his home. During the barricade, he set several small fires in his home and on the back porch.

MCPD said officers were able to put out one of the fires and evacuated some neighbors out of caution.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene as well.

The man eventually came out of his home, and officers took him into custody.
