Monett man stopped in Granby with 1/4lb of meth sentenced

PINEVILLE, Mo. — A Monett man pleads guilty to possessing methamphetamine with an intent to distribute and was sentenced in McDonald County Circuit Court Tuesday.

Richard Fouts, 64, was sentenced on one count of C Felony Possession with intent to distribute and received 10 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

FOUR STATES CRIME…

It stems from a late 2020 traffic stop where Fouts and a passenger were found to be in possession of nearly a quarter-pound of methamphetamine, plus more than $1,600 in cash. Fouts told the Granby Police Department officer that the methamphetamine was solely his.

The case was originally charged as a Class A felony drug trafficking until a lab report revealed the amount of drugs was under the statutory amount required to support the charge. The 10 year sentence is the maximum sentence permitted by law for a possession with intent to distribute.
