Monday marks 2 years since Andover tornado, city has since rebuilt

ANDOVER, Kan. (KSNW) — Monday, April 29, 2024, marks two years since an EF3 tornado hit the City of Andover.

The tornado’s path started in southeast Sedgwick County before moving to Andover. It hit Central Park, Prairie Creek Elementary School, and the Andover YMCA, among homes and other places.

It took months for students to return to classes back at Prairie Creek Elementary. The Andover YMCA announced it will be reopening on May 20, 2024.

People in dozens of states donated money to the United Ways of the Plains to help with recovery.
