Mobile Police make second arrest in Prairie Avenue homicide

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile Police have arrested a second person in connection with an April 23 homicide on Prairie Avenue.

20-year-old Kalvin Lamar Matthews, Jr., was arrested on May 22 in connection with the homicide, according to the Mobile Police Department.

On May 9, 24-year-old Grant Lavarus Myles was arrested in connection with the case.

An MPD news release said officers were called to the 1600 block of Prairie Avenue around 9:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

When they got to the scene, officers found 26-year-old Jaylin Craig dead in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, according to an MPD release.

The release said officers also found a boy with a gunshot wound in a second vehicle.

He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
