UPDATE: Darwood Drive murder suspect arrested, Mobile Police say

UPDATE (1 p.m.): Mobile police have arrested and charged a man with murder in connection with a Tuesday morning homicide.

Carl Mitchell Washington Jr., 20, of Mobile, was arrested today and taken to Metro Jail, according to a Mobile Police Department spokesperson.

MPD officers responded to the 1600 block of Darwood Drive around 3:30 a.m. after hearing about a shooting.

The victim’s name is not available for release, police said.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Officers with the Mobile Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred early Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the department.

The release said officers were called to the 1600 block of Darwood Drive around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a shooting.

When they arrived, officers found a vehicle resting against a home with a man dead in the front yard, according to the release.
