It's no secret that last year was hard on Miranda Lambert, who announced her divorce from husband Blake Shelton one year ago today. With a new single, "Vices," rising on the charts and a new man on her arm, the country star is opening up about the emotional journey that she went through in the past 12 months.

"The last year of my life has been one of heartache and healing, ... Of learning to be honest ... Accepting the flaws and celebrating the smiles. Finding peace in dark places ... having some moments alone with me. Facing fears and feelings ... All of them," she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her latest single on the top of the U.S. iTunes sales chart. "I got to know my guitars ... became friends with a pencil and paper ... Used melodies to lead me places I had never been ... Made music with my friends. Because music is medicine. This means the world to me. Thank you for joining me on this journey."

The 32-year-old also sings about struggles of being "numb" and "lonely" in "Vices." Much like her ex Shelton, the singer is taking the events of the past year and turning it into chart-topping music.
