Minnesota woman struck, killed Wednesday night

May 23—Police say a Minnesota woman was killed after she was hit by a vehicle Wednesday night on the city's southeast side.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Kokomo Police Department were out on a separate traffic-related incident, according to a department media release.

Those officers then reportedly heard what they believed to be a crash near the intersection of Indiana 931 and Lincoln Road, so they went to investigate, per the release.

Upon arrival, police located 38-year-old Dawn Marie Teague, of Little Falls, Minnesota, lying in the roadway, the release stated.

Preliminary investigation into the incident led police to believe Teague crossed the highway in an unknown direction, and investigators also state she was last seen on her cell phone prior to the incident, the release indicated.

Moments later, Teague was reportedly struck in the westbound lane by a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 42-year-old Kokomo resident Joshua Conrad.

Investigators state Conrad was heading south when he collided with the woman.

Howard County EMS arrived shortly after the incident occurred, and Teague was ultimately pronounced dead on scene.

Police say a blood draw was also subsequently completed on Conrad, per Indiana law, to ensure intoxicants were not a factor in the investigation.

This case remains under investigation, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Officer Michael Riley at 765-456-7600, ext. 8436.
