Col. Serhiy Cherevaty, Deputy Commander for Strategic Communications of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has been appointed as the new Director General of state news agency Ukrinform, Ukraine’s Culture Ministry announced on May 24.

Cherevaty replaces Oleksiy Matsuka, who announced his resignation in a Facebook post.

“Thank you all for these wonderful months of fruitful work; it wasn’t easy, but it was all for victory,” said Matsuka.

The Digital Transformation Ministry added that the new director will face tasks aimed at "enhancing the efficiency and organization of the agency's work in line with current challenges."

On April 30, Cherevaty was appointed head of the Military Journalism Department at the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
