LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– Michigan high school seniors now have the chance to follow their dreams and win free pizza for a year, just by filling out the new and improved Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

“There are so many people who have so much student loan debt, but we’re trying to bring down the cost of college in Michigan,” Garlin Gilchrist, Lt. Governor said.

The Reach for the Pie initiative is new this year— and officials said will give away a gift card worth $750 for ‘pizza for a year’ to one hundred winners that fill it out.

“This effort is trying to put a spotlight on FAFSA completion at a time where we know high school seniors are really pulled in a lot of different directions,” Michelle Richard, Acting Director of MiLEAP said.

By filling out a FAFSA officials said you can not only reach for the pie but unlock grants and awards like the new Michigan Achievement Scholarship- which offers up to $27,500 for college.

“Well, this says that families need to move to Michigan and educate their children in Michigan first and foremost; that’s what we want to see in our communities- but it also signals that the state of Michigan cares and is willing to invest in peoples’ educational success,” Gilchrist said.

The last day to enter the contest is June 30th. To enter you can visit, reachforthepie.org
