Midstate veterans honored, given handmade quilts

(WHTM)– Awards presented to Midstate veterans came from the heart as well as from creative hands.

There were 20 veterans living at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown who received their own “Quilt of Valor.” Two groups stitched them together, the Masonic Village “Piece Makers” and the Middletown “Piece Makers.”

The handmade quilts honor the vets while providing them comfort.

Veteran Fred Kaylor appreciated both the meaning behind the quilts and their size.

“I plan to hang this on the wall, I didn’t know how big the quilt would be, I actually though thought they would be small, three-by-four foot, but this is pretty big size and its going to keep me warm in the winter too,” Kaylor said.
