FREEHOLD – A Gloucester County man is charged with engaging in sexually explicit online conversations with a 14-year-old from Middletown, said Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago on Tuesday.

Jeremy M. Slickerman, 33, of West Deptford, is charged with third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Earlier this month, the Middletown Police Department referred the matter to the High Tech Bureau’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit within the Prosecutor’s Office, according to the statement from Santiago.

An investigation determined that Slickerman was communicating with the victim over several online chat applications, including Xbox Live, Skype, Discord and Chat IB, the statement said. In their conversations, Slickerman encouraged the juvenile to travel to a park near his home, where they could meet. He also suggested that the teen engage in sexual acts with relatives, neighbors and classmates, the statement said.

Assisted by members of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the West Deptford Police Department, investigators from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office arrested Slickerman at his home, where a search warrant was executed, on Friday.

Slickerman used the username “Blue Jay” on Chat IB and “Tcencho” on the other online platforms, all according to the statement.

A photo of Slickerman is being circulated by the Prosecutor’s Office in the event anyone else recognizes Slickerman as having engaged in similarly alleged misconduct.

Anyone with such information is being asked to contact Detective Dylan Lovgren of the Prosecutor’s Office at 800-533-7443 or Middletown Police Department Detective Janine Kennedy at 732-615-2100.

This case has been assigned to Assistant Prosecutor Kristen Anastos, the statement said.

There was no information available Tuesday on whether Slickerman had secured a defense attorney.
