Middletown police seek public's help in 2019 unsolved homicide: Where the case stands

MIDDLETOWN - City police are asking for the public's help in finding the person or persons who shot and killed Sebastian Avilan-Medina five years ago.

Middletown police said solving the murder has been a top priority for their agency since it was first reported to them on March 11, 2019.

"We are confident that we can bring the person(s) responsible for this crime to justice, and finally give the Avilan-Medina family the peace of mind and closure they deserve," Middletown police said in a statement.

Avilan-Medina, 26, was found dead from a gunshot wound in his upstairs apartment at 23 Knapp St. on March 11, 2019. Since then, police said they have made significant strides, but it has proven to be a very challenging case.

Police are searching for two primary suspects.
