Michigan Central Station concert, open house registration on hold after technical issue

Detroit is very ready for the opening festivities at the restored Michigan Central train station. The Michigan Central web servers apparently were not.

A ticket signup for a June 6 celebratory concert featuring major Detroit artists has been put on hold because of apparent technical issues. A new date and time will be announced.

“We appreciate everyone’s excitement to participate in our Michigan Central OPEN celebration,” read a statement issued by Michigan Central. “Due to overwhelming demand, we have temporarily paused registration … to ensure fairness in retrieving tickets.”

The Michigan Central note emphasized that tickets are not sold out.

Registration was supposed to open at noon today on the Michigan Central website for both the June 6 concert and public tours of the restored train station June 7-16.

But people attempting to access the Michigan Central website were met with connection errors starting just before noon, and the issues persisted into the 1 p.m. hour.
