A month after confirming that a Downton Abbey movie is officially happening, Michelle Dockery enjoyed a mini reunion with a couple of members of the cast.

The 36-year-old actress shared a black-and-white image on Instagram of herself with Dan Stevens and Allen Leech as the stars socialized in Los Angeles.

Dockery added the caption: 'Dorks.'

Stevens shared the same photo on Instagram, and couldn't resist poking fun at his moustache. He wrote: 'Should Matthew have a moustache for the #DowntonAbbeyMovie...? Vote below.'

Sadly for Stevens, his character Matthew Crawley tragically died in a motoring accident in the acclaimed TV series, so it's unlikely that he's going to return for the film adaptation (unless we're to enjoy some time hopping or flashbacks).

Leech had previously shared an image of himself and Dockery in LA, adding the message: 'Look who's in LA! The Dockmiester General. Soon to be my sister-in-law again. #backtotheabbey.'

Production for the long-anticipated movie is due to begin soon in the UK. Dockery revealed she would be reprising her role as Lady Mary Crawley, although fans were disappointed that Lily James ruled out a return as Lady Rose MacClare.

'Rose moved off to New York, so it would be farfetched to bring her back,' the Mamma Mia 2 star told People. 'I would have loved to have come back for a scene, but for a movie it can't be like a Christmas special and it needs to be a focused storyline. There was no space for Rose.'

Plot details for the film have yet to be disclosed, but much of the original cast are said to be involved including Dockery, Leech, Dame Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonneville.

Meanwhile Phyllis Logan - who plays much-loved housekeeper Mrs Hughes -said filming is due to begin 'any minute now'.
