The nonprofit relies on government funding and donations to maintain operation. “It is a game changer to PB&J, offers us a lot of support for operation of our services that we provide in our community,” said Felicia Tapia-Alvidrez, co-executive director PB&J Family Services.

More than 6,000 nonprofits applied for an award from Yield Giving. There were 361 recipents of fundingm including ten nonprofits in New Mexico.  “It did seem like a long shot but ultimately we believe in the services that we provide and showcase that in the best way we possibly could,” said Alvidrez.

PB&J Family Services said $300,000 of the funding will go toward replacing three vans.  “Hopefully we will be able to expand services and provide more services, more transportation is a huge piece, and we will be able to provide that,” said Thompson.

The rest of the funding will be used to support operations at their three locations. “We’re kind of making a plan for that now we did have some operational things that we needed to get right off the bat,” said Thompson.

The program said this is the biggest donation they have ever received.
