Metro shooting leaves one person arrested and officers on routine leave

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR)The Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) says six officers are on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of a shooting investigation.

Authorities report on April 12, OKCPD officers responded to the 200 block of SE 54th St. in reference to a man outside shooting a gun. When officers arrived, it was determined the suspect was inside a home at that location.

Officers say they asked the suspect Juan Castorenna-Guerrero to come outside.

Police say he did came outside with a weapon in his hand.

When the suspect failed to drop his weapon, six officers discharged their firearms toward him while he ran back into the house.

Police say, after several minutes, Castorenna-Guerrero exited the residence without the firearm and surrendered to officers. Castorenna-Guerrero was not struck by the officers’ gunfire, according to police.

Castorenna-Guerrero was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on four counts of pointing a firearm.

The six involved officers have been placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.
