These Mermaid Stockings Are Taking Christmas Decorations Under The Sea
The mermaid decor trend has been on the rise for a while now, popping up everywhere from lamps and bookends-to knit blankets that create your very own mermaid tail. Now that it's the end of the year, of course the sparkly trend would make its way into the holiday decorating sphere, where glitz and glam are the norm. How is the look translating? Oh, in mermaid stockings.
A fun, glittery take on your standard Christmas stocking, mermaid stockings serve the same purpose-hang them on your mantel and fill them up with little gifts and goodies-but rather than look like an oversized sock, they look like a mermaid's tail. They're either covered in sequins or have scales painted on, but in any case, they're flashy. The real debate is: are they kitschy-cute, or are they too much?
However you feel about them, mermaid stockings have begun to pop up at multiple different stores, from Asos to Zulily. And of course, you can also find tons of mermaid stockings on Etsy and Amazon. Some of them are geared towards kids (like Target's Pillowfort stocking) and others feel more glamorous and grown-up (like Paper Source's glitzy gold stocking with starfish detailing), so there's a little something under-the-sea for everyone if you're into it.
