Mercer County Adult Education Center to host open house this weekend

Apr. 25—PINE TOWNSHIP — The Mercer County Adult Education Center will be showing off its new home at an open house Saturday.

The non-profit, which is dedicated to teaching out-of-school professionals new valuable skills at any stage in life, recently moved into the George Junior Republic campus.

While the center has continued to operate, they wanted to host an event to show community members their new location and get a chance to see some of the many programs they offer.

The event is free to the public and will last from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the chamber of commerce at noon. There will be free refreshments and food.

Its classes include a creative writing class, which helps adults explore their writing abilities and learn how to create stories and refine their creativity.

Another class is their computer skills class, which helps adults who struggle with computers learn the skills needed in a changing workplace. These skills can help improve a person's work life, as well as personal life with the ability to use computers to their advantage. The class features two sections, an absolute beginner and a beginner level courses.

The focus of the event is for community members to connect among themselves, as well as meeting the team behind the education center.

The event takes place at 233 George Junior Road, across the road from Sheetz in Pine Township.
