Men posing as officers break into north St. Louis home, steal victim’s car

ST. LOUIS – Three men who allegedly posed as police officers broke into a north St. Louis home Tuesday morning and took off with one victim’s car.

The break-in happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 5100 block of North Norwood Drive in the Kingsway West neighborhood.

According to a crime summary report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, three armed suspects forced entry into the home and announced themselves as police officers. One man and one woman were reportedly sleeping in the home before the break-in.

Two suspects held up the occupants as one suspect snatched car keys, money and other items. Eventually, all three suspects used the car keys to escape in one victim’s vehicle.

SLMPD officers than responded to a call for a stolen vehicle and found it abandoned in the 4200 block of John Avenue. The stolen vehicle was later returned to the victim.

No injuries were reported from this situation, though no arrests or charges have been announced as of Wednesday.
