5 injured in multiple overnight shootings

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are investigating multiple shootings that occurred throughout the city overnight, leaving four adults and one teen injured.

One shooting happened in Whitehaven in the 300 block of Inwood Drive. The call came in at around 9 p.m.

MPD says two teenage brothers got into an argument over a drink. The 16-year-old boy reportedly shot his 17-year-old brother.

The 17-year-old was taken to LeBonheur.

A witness at the scene told officers the 17-year-old hit his younger brother in the face first, resulting in the shooting.

Police found the suspect lying in the grass in the yard with his hands behind his back. he told them, “I shot my brother.”

Another shooting call came in a little after 2 a.m. in South Memphis. The incident happened in the 1200 block of Neptune Street.

MPD says a man was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition after being shot in the knee. He told police a woman set him up.

Witnesses stated an older suspect was asking for a younger man, accusing him of raping his daughter.

Reports state that another suspect pointed his gun at the victim’s legs and fired shots. Both suspects left in a gray Chrysler.

MPD is also working to gather details regarding a shooting in the Nutbush area. The incident happened in the 3700 block of Longfellow Road a little after 3:05 a.m.

Two brothers told police they were lost and asked a group of men for directions. That’s when the group of men became angry reportedly fired multiple shots.

One of the men was shot in his right eye. He was taken to Regional One in critical condition.

The other man was found by police lying on the sidewalk. He had been shot in the right leg twice, left leg once, and in the right chest with an exit wound in the back. He was taken to Regional One in critical condition.

During the search, police also found a car and a house that had been shot several times. The occupants of the house were unhurt. The car had been reported as a suspect vehicle in several robberies.

Another shooting took place a little before 7:30 a.m. in Parkway Village. Officers responded to the 2800 block of Cotton Way Street.

A man was taken to Reginal One in critical condition. There is no suspect information at this time.
