Memorial Day Weekend is here. These Centre County grocery stores have shorter hours
The unofficial start to the summer season is almost here, and that means it’s time to stock up for a long weekend’s worth of cookouts as Memorial Day approaches.
Memorial Day falls Monday, May 27 this year. Most stores in the State College area will operate under modified or reduced hours for the holiday, so be sure to check before heading out for last-minute groceries or gas for the grill.
Here’s a brief overview of the holiday hours for grocery markets and liquor stores throughout parts of Centre County. Be sure to check for your preferred locations, as some schedules and services vary by store.

Aldi
Aldi’s Centre County stores, located at 780 Benner Pike and 1798 N. Atherton St. in State College, will close at 6 p.m. May 27. Normal hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. resume starting Tuesday.
Fine Wine & Good Spirits
All four Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores in the State College area — Southridge Plaza, Hamilton Square, North Atherton and Benner Pike — will close at 5 p.m. Monday.
Giant
Giant’s stores are open with normal hours Memorial Day. The 2121 S. Atherton St. store and 255 Northland Center store in State College are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., while the 2699 Benner Pike store is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sam’s Club
All Sam’s Club stores, including the 381 Benner Pike location in State College, are set to close at 6 p.m. Memorial Day, the company says.
Target
Standard business hours are in store for Target’s locations for Memorial Day. The 315 Colonnade Blvd. location in State College is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., while the downtown store at 201 W. Beaver Ave. is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to the company’s website.
Trader Joe’s
The State College Trader Joe’s, located at 243 Patriot Lane, will operate with standard business hours from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Memorial Day.
Walmart
Standard business hours are on tap for Walmart, too. Both the 1665 N. Atherton St. and 373 Benner Pike stores in State College are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Memorial Day.
Wegmans
The State College Wegmans, located at 345 Colonnade Blvd., is open from 6 a.m. to midnight Memorial Day. However, its pharmacy is open from only 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
Weis (Bellefonte)
This Weis store, located at 170 Buckaroo Lane in Bellefonte, is open with normal hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Memorial Day. Its pharmacy, however, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the holiday.
Weis (Philipsburg)
This Weis market, located at 501 N. Centre St. in Philipsburg, is open with regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Memorial Day. The pharmacy will close at 3 p.m.
Weis (Martin Street)
The Weis store at 1471 Martin St. in State College is open with usual hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial Day.
Weis (Rolling Ridge Drive)
This Weis market, located at 110 Rolling Ridge Drive in State College, is open with regular hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The pharmacy is open from 9 am. to 5 p.m.
Weis (Westerly Parkway)
This Weis location at 560 Westerly Parkway in State College will operate with regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Memorial Day.
