Memorial Day scattered storms, drier conditions later next week

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good evening and happy Saturday! It was a toasty day across the Carolinas today with even warmer weather on the way for tomorrow. While we did see a couple of thunderstorms most were able to stay dry and we expect more of the same Sunday. Memorial Day could bring scattered storms before drier and less muggy conditions move in later next week.

As for tonight and Sunday, mostly clear skies are expected this evening along with low temperatures that will fall into the mid-60s overnight. Sunday will bring more sunshine and even hotter temperatures for the Carolinas with highs tomorrow afternoon likely pushing up into the low 90s with the humidity sticking around. While an isolated shower or storm is possible, we don’t expect major issues for the Coca-Cola 600.

Memorial Day could be a bit of a different story as a cold front will be pushing through the region bringing the potential for more widespread showers and storms. There is also greater potential for severe weather on Memorial Day as well with the primary concern being damaging winds and hail. Once we get past Memorial Day though, we are expecting highs near average in the low 80s the rest of the week along with falling humidity making for a pleasant end to May.

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend! Have a great night!
