Memorial Day Ceremony to take place at Bath National Cemetery

BATH, N.Y. (WETM) – The VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System and the Bath National Cemetery will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday to honor those who died while serving.

The ceremony will take place on Monday, May 27, at the Bath National Cemetery located at 1 San Juan Avenue beginning at 10 a.m.

A lineup of people will be speaking at the ceremony, including Guy Kiyokawa, U.S. Army Veteran and Assistant Secretary of the Office of Enterprise Integration of Veterans Affairs, who will reflect on and pay tribute to the fallen heroes and their marks of bravery and sacrifice.

Veterans, military families and the public are all invited to come to the ceremony which will include the laying of the wreath, a moment of silence and the playing of Taps.

After the ceremony, those who attend are invited to pay respect to those who lay rest at the cemetery. Each fallen hero’s headstone is adorned with an American flag which was placed by the fifth-grade class at Haverling.
