Cocoa

Memorial Day tribute in Cocoa Village: The City of Cocoa’s annual Memorial Day Tribute will be at Riverfront Park, 401 Riveredge Blvd., Cocoa Village, on Monday, May 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. A parade will take place through the streets of Cocoa Village from 4 to 4:30 p.m., followed by a static display and formal stage presentation at 5 p.m.. There will be guest speakers, a flag folding ceremony, 21-gun salute, moment of silence, entertainment and more. Admission is free. Call 321-639-3500 or visit cocoafl.gov.

Melbourne

Memorial Day program at the Liberty Bell Museum: Honor America, Inc. will host a Memorial Day program at the Melbourne Liberty Bell Museum, 1601 Oak Street, Melbourne, on Monday, May 27 from 11 a.m. to noon. The non-partisan program will include patriotic music and featured speakers will be Donn Weaver, Gold Star Father and long-time patron of the Veterans Memorial Center on Merritt Island, and Captain Jason Schneider, Commanding Officer of the Naval Ordnance Testing Unit at Port Canaveral. Memorial Day observance on Merritt Island: Brevard Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S. Sykes Creek Pkwy, Merritt Island, hosts a Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. Lt. Col. Memorial Day observance in Mims: The Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US 1, North Mims, hosts a Memorial Day observance “Remember and Honor” in the flag assembly area on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. The event will include speakers and tributes. Capt. William Toni, Navy submarine sailor, will give the keynote, with Esther Bower of Fox 35 Orlando acting as emcee. Call 321-403-0128.

American flag placement at Fountainhead Memorial Cemetery: Volunteers are invited to place flags at the gravesites of veterans at Fountainhead Memorial Cemetery, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay on Saturday, May 25 at 8 a.m. The flags will be provided by American Legion Post 117 and 394. Memorial Day ceremonies and picnic in Palm Bay: American Legion Post 117, 189 Veterans Drive SE, Palm Bay, will host a Memorial Day ceremony and picnic on Monday, May 27 at 1 p.m. It will include hamburgers, hot dogs and music by Jimmy D. Prior to the event, there will be a ceremony at Fountainhead Memorial Cemetery, 7359 Babcock Street SE, at 9 a.m. to honor Medal of Honor recipient Cpt. Charles F. Titusville

National Poppy Day observance in Titusville: Look for American Legion Auxiliary volunteers at the entrance of Titusville businesses on Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25, when the group will be raising awareness and honoring veterans in observation of National Poppy Day. The red poppy is a symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. On the Friday before Memorial Day, wear a red poppy to honor the fallen and support the living who have worn our nation's uniform. Members of the American Legion family distribute poppies with a request that the person receiving the flower make a donation to support the future of veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families with medical and financial needs.
