Melissa McCarthy shrugged off Barbra Streisand's Ozempic remark as she arrived to the red carpet for her Unfrosted premiere on Tuesday.

On Monday, Streisand's comment on the Bridesmaid star’s Instagram photo: “did you take Ozempic?” was met with widespread backlash.

However, the 82-year-old singer has since apologised, and McCarthy, 54, showed there were no hard feeling by quipping, “Barbra Streisand knows I exist!” in an Instagram reel from the LA premiere.

The social media clip began with the Genie actress, who was clad in a La DoubleJ floral ensemble, reading a magazine celebrating “icon” Streisand.

As the camera panned out McCarthy said: “The takeaway? Barbra Streisand knows I exist.”

The film star added that the EGOT winner had “reached out to me and she said I look good. I win the day.”

To end the reel, McCarthy began to read the magazine once again.

Captioning the post, the Tammy actress wrote: “@barbrastreisand fan club members only!!!” alongside several red love heart emojis.

After sharing the update, McCarthy was inundated with supportive messages from fans and followers who applauded her “classy” response.

One Instagram user penned: “A class act” while another commented. “Exactly - this how a goddess responds to an icon. All love and fabulousness.”

“What a gem of a person you are. I love this response and what it says about your character,” a third added.

The star’s social media post comes hours after Streisand insisted that the Ozempic comment she made under McCarthy’s post was a “compliment”.

On Monday, McCarthy posted pictures on Instagram from the Center Theatre Group (CTG) gala, wearing a pastel green tulle dress with a matching blazer, alongside US director Adam Shankman in a baby pink suit.

Streisand left a comment on the post: “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?” referencing the type two diabetes medicine acknowledged as effective for weight loss.

The comment, which was swiftly deleted, sparked furore online.

Addressing the backlash on her social media, Streisand told her 1.6 million followers: “I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday.

“Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy, who I sang with on my Encore album.

“She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!”
