Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance at the Queen’s annual staff Christmas party Monday, and the possibility that she was pulling double-duty scoping out her future wedding venue was not lost on us.

The event, which took place at Windsor Castle, was held in several of the historic structure’s many rooms, including the Waterloo Chamber, St. George’s Hall and the Grand Reception Room, which may also be where she and Prince Harry will hold their wedding reception next May.

“The Christmas party is always held there,” a former staffer told People. “They’ll hold the wedding reception there too. It is a well proven system and arrangement.”

A spokesperson for Prince Harry told People that the couple decided to have their wedding in Windsor because it is “a very special place for Prince Harry.” The pair have spent a lot of time there throughout the course of their relationship.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge held their own 2011 wedding reception in Buckingham Palace.

According to Daily Mail royal reporter Rebecca English, Markle, 36, was called “charm personified” by an attendee of the Queen’s party, and even introduced herself simply to guests. “She held out her hand and said, ‘Hi, I’m Meghan,’” English tweeted Thursday.

Added English: “It was definitely a surprise to all those attended. And those that did meet her were absolutely blown away by her elegance and confidence. She’s gone down well with the staff, that’s for certain!”

According to People, Markle reportedly told guests that she and Harry had stayed at the castle over the weekend, since he had just returned late Saturday evening from a hunting party in Germany.

Things are definitely moving quickly for the pair. Markle and Prince Harry revealed their engagement late last month, and more recently, news broke that the former Suits actress will be joining the royal family for the holidays.
