Meghan Markle's Royal Wedding Bouquet Will Pay Tribute to Princess Diana

The bride-to-be also plans to donate the couple's wedding flowers to charity after their upcoming nuptials

As the countdown to the royal wedding ramps up, details of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May 19 nuptials are being released one tantalizing tidbit at a time. The latest news to hit headlines concerns the couple’s choice of florist for their big day, an honor that falls on London-based florist Philippa Craddock. The veteran florist will design the arrangements for both the much-anticipated ceremony in St. George’s Chapel at Westminster Abbey and for the afternoon reception in St. George’s Hall. According to a post to Instagram earlier this month, Craddock will be using “plenty of locally sourced greenery and seasonal flowers” including “peonies, garden roses, and foxgloves” for the ceremony. Additionally, Craddock will specifically incorporate white garden roses into Markle’s wedding bouquet as a tribute to the late Princess Diana; they were known to be her favorites.

According to Kensington Palace, the arrangements will “reflect the wild and natural landscapes from which many of the plants will be drawn,” with an emphasis on sustainability, as evidenced by the “pollinator-friendly plants” that will also be a part of the much-anticipated royal affair. “These plants provide a great habitat for bees and help to sustain healthy and biodiverse ecosystems." To cap off the embodiment of the do-good nature of the happy couple, it was also revealed that the pair plan to donate the flowers from their ceremony to charity following their big day. It has not yet been announced however which organizations will receive the blooms. As for Meghan Markle’s own bouquet, per tradition the former Suits star will most likely lay it upon the grave of the unknown warrior in Westminster Abbey.
