Mega Millions jackpot hits $977 million

NEW YORK (PIX11) – It’s time to crank up the dream machine again after no one won the Mega Millions jackpot during Tuesday’s drawing.

The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to over $977 million. The combined lotteries sit at $1.727 billion heading into the weekend drawings.

Powerball’s Wednesday drawing didn’t produce a winner, so now the jackpot is at $750 million with a cash option of $357.3 million going into Saturday night’s drawing. It finally cracked the top 10 of all-time Powerball jackpots.

Neither jackpot has been hit in months. The Powerball jackpot was last won on Jan. 1, while the Mega Millions jackpot was hit on Dec. 8.

Tickets for each lottery cost $2 each, but there are $1 extras you can buy to bump up your prize. The odds never change, with the chances of winning a Mega Millions jackpot being over 300 million to one and Powerball being under 300 million to one.

The biggest jackpot ever, at $2.04 billion, was won in California.
