Actress Meg Ryan has spoken candidly about being in her 60s.

The former 90s rom-com queen, 62, says she feels “liberated” in this latest chapter of her life and that she no longer cares about “pleasing others and trying to make everyone happy”.

Speaking in an interview with Italian publication IO Donna, she explained: “I appreciate my years, I say that seriously.

“I appreciate my age. For me, now, it is more important to say clearly what you think rather than pleasing others and trying to make everyone happy.

“I feel almost liberated because I have said certain things and made observations about love and relationships. And for trying to be honest. I can finally look back and be in the present at the same time.”

The When Harry Met Sally star stepped back from the limelight in 2015 to focus on her family.

She shares actor son Jack Quaid, 32, with ex-husband Dennis Quaid and in January 2006 she adopted a 14-month-old girl from China, whom she named Daisy True and is now 20.

Opening up in 2023 about her decision to put her career on hold, she said: "I took a giant break because I felt like there's just so many other parts of my experience as a human being I wanted to develop.

"It's nice to think of it as a job and not a lifestyle. And that is a great way of navigating it for me," she added to People.
