MCSO arrest Berea man on child pornography charges

Apr. 29—Last Friday, the Madison County Sheriff's Office arrested a 31 year old man on charges of child pornography.

Shawn May, of Berea, was arrested for allegedly distributing obscene material to minors under 12.

He was arraigned in Madison County District Court on Monday on these charges.

"The investigation revealed May... distributed child sexual abuse material to an online account," the sheriff's office said on Facebook.

May was booked into the Madison County Detention Center, and does not have a bond amount, according to the Madison County Detention Center.

The case is still currently under investigation by the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 531.030 the crime is a Class A misdemeanor, unless the defendant has previously been convicted of violation of this section or of KRS 531.020, in which case it shall be a Class D felony.

If convicted, this carries with it the potential for prison time for May.
