Mayor: Behavior of officers in wrongful convictions 'abhorrent'

Jun. 18—ELKHART — Attorneys for a woman who says she was wrongly convicted of murder have made sweeping allegations of misconduct in the Elkhart Police Department, going back decades.

Similar allegations have led to millions of dollars in settlements for wrongful convictions in recent years, while more lawsuits are still pending. But Elkhart leaders are torn on whether allegations from decades ago warrant a second look today.
