Maryland weather: Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Central Maryland

The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of rain and thunder through most of Baltimore’s Memorial Day weekend.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast to start Wednesday night and last until 11 a.m. Thursday. Thursday afternoon is expected to have a high temperature around 86 degrees before showers and thunderstorms return after 5 p.m. when there is a 60% chance of rain.

Friday there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms from the early morning through the afternoon when temperatures are expected to reach the high 80s. Rain is expected to continue through Friday night into Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon is expected to have a high temperature around 87 degrees with a 60% chance of rain, with a possibility of thunderstorms through the night.

Sunday is expected to be sunny with highs in the uppers 80s before a chance of showers and thunderstorms sets in after 8 p.m. when there is a 50% chance of rain.

Memorial Day is forecast to have a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. with temperatures reaching the upper 80s with a 70% chance of rain. Monday night also has a chance of showers and thunderstorms with a 60% chance of rain.
