Maryland weather: No rain expected Monday; showers forecast for primary day

The Baltimore area is expected to see its last bits of sunshine Monday before rain — and voting in Maryland’s primary election — starts Tuesday.

Clouds and fog are expected to clear Monday morning as temperatures rise to a high of about 79 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Monday night is expected to by partly cloudy with a low of about 56 degrees.

The outlook for primary day is wetter, with chances of rain throughout the morning and showers becoming likely after 2 p.m. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 72 and south wind blowing 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%, and between a 10th and a quarter of an inch of rain is expected near BWI Marshall Airport.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected Tuesday night, with a low around 62. The chance of precipitation is 90%.

The forecast for Wednesday calls for showers with thunderstorms also possible after 2 p.m. Temperatures should top out around 70. There’s a 70% chance of precipitation during the day and 30% at night.

Some reprieve from the rain is expected Thursday, which is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high near 76 degrees. Showers could return Friday, with a 30% chance of rain expected after 2 p.m.

Saturday — Preakness Day — showers and thunderstorms are likely. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 74 and a 60% chance of precipitation.
