Maryland weather: Chance of showers returns to Baltimore area Wednesday

Apr. 23—Isolated showers are expected in the Baltimore area Wednesday afternoon, followed by clear skies.

Despite the modest call for rain, a coastal flood advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. for the shoreline of Baltimore City as well as southern Baltimore County. High tides on Wednesday morning could lead to flooding at the end of Thames Street in Fells Point, as well as water encroaching on yards in Bowleys Quarters, according to the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile, a coastal flood warning is in effect until 11 a.m. for the shoreline of Anne Arundel County, where moderate flooding can be expected around Annapolis City Dock. Annapolis Police said Wednesday morning that Dock and Compromise streets are closed due to flooding.

A 20% chance of rain is forecast from noon to about 3 p.m. in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Wednesday morning's clouds are expected to open up gradually throughout the day. A gentle breeze is forecast, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Temperatures are expected to reach the 70s in the afternoon before dropping into the 40s at night.

Thursday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high temperature around 64 degrees before dropping into the 40s again at night. The weekend is also expected to be mostly sunny without rain.
