Maryland State Police: 1 dead, 2 injured after crash in Waldorf

WALDORF, Md. (DC News Now) — Maryland State Police (MSP) said that one person was killed and two people were injured after a crash in Waldorf on Monday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., MSP troopers were called to the area of Crain Highway (Route 301) and Acton Lane for a crash between two vehicles.

Police said that a person in a GMC was driving south on Crain Highway. A Ford traveling north on Crain Highway was trying to make a left turn onto Acton Lane, but the driver of the GMC did not stop at a red light, hitting the Ford.

“Investigators believe that impairment may have been a factor in this crash,” MSP said in a statement.

The passenger in the Ford died there. The driver was flown to Shock Trauma for treatment.

The driver of the GMC was taken to Shock Trauma in an ambulance.

As of 5:50 p.m., all southbound lanes at Crain Highway were closed as the investigation continued.
