Man's Attempt to Sell Stolen Frenchie-Boston Terrier Mix Foiled in Best Possible Way

On April 24 in St.Paul, Minnesota, a woman was walking with her adorable French Bulldog-Boston Terrier mix named Clementine and two males pushed her down and stole Clementine (Who has the adorable nickname of 'Tiny') while on their way to get ice cream!

The plot to sell little Tiny was foiled in a pretty remarkable way.

The Star Tribune reports that a man later told police that he was asked by a male whether he wanted to buy a French bulldog for $700. The man left without buying the dog and went to a store nearby, where he saw a flyer about Tiny being missing and called the owner to report seeing her dog.

Good on him for reporting it!

The news report goes on to say that Lonnie Ray Jenkins, 18, of St. Paul, was charged in Ramsey County District Court with first-degree aggravated robbery in connection with him and an accomplice stealing the French bulldog-Boston terrier mix.

Clementine's owner did say she was microchipped, which I'm sure aided in her return. This sweet girl is also on medication, according to her owner, so I'm so glad she is now home safe and sound where she belongs. I'm so sorry her owner had to go through this! It must have been so scary.

It's ridiculous that a person can't even take their dog on a walk to get an ice cream cone but I guess that's the sort of world we live in now. You can't guarantee your precious fur baby will never be stolen, but there are a few steps you can take to protect yourself and your pet.

Have your dog microchipped. This won't protect your pup from being stolen, but if they are stolen and the thief tries to register them or change the microchip information you will be notified by the company.

Spay or neuter your pet. A lot of times thieves target unaltered pets so they can breeds puppies and then sell these puppies.

Take lots of photos of your pet and of you with your pet. This can be helpful if you have to prove ownership of your pet and to also give to law enforcement.

Vary the routes you take when walking your dog, and try to walk with a buddy when possible.

Don't post public photos of your pets on social media, especially with identifying markers like street signs in the background, the doggy daycare name, where you take them to get groomed or places you visit on a regular basis.

Don't leave your dog or cat outside unattended.

If the worst does happen, alert your local police immediately and tell all of your family, friends and veterinarian.

We are so happy beautiful Clementine is back at home where she is obviously loved so much! What a horrible ordeal for her owner!
