Manheim Township High School remains virtual the rest of the week after recent fire

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– Students at Manheim Township High School in Lancaster County will remain virtual for the rest of the week.

A message posted on Manheim Township School District’s website states that Thursday and Friday are also Online Learning Days. Teachers will communicate with students regarding assignments, according to the message.

Although district officials did not specifically state in their announcement why, there was a recent fire at the high school building.

Emergency crews were called to the high school at 5:18 p.m. on Monday and saw flames from a dust collector bin on the outside of the building, the Manheim Township Fire chief said. Crews were able to extinguish the fire and no injuries were reported.

The fire was accidental and likely started due to a spark that was sucked into the collector, the chief said. The fire was contained to just the collector outside the building.
