Man thrown from vehicle, killed in crash near Hastings

CASTLETON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was killed in a Monday morning crash near Hastings.

Around 10:40 a.m., deputies with the Barry County Sheriff’s Office were sent to Devine Road near Thornapple Lake Road for a crash.

Responding deputies learned that a Chevrolet Aveo was traveling northbound on Devine Road, left the roadway, hit an embankment and rolled.

The driver, a 32-year-old Vermontville man, was thrown from the vehicle and found unresponsive, the sheriff’s office said. He died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
