Man suspected of exposing himself to several women in North County

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) – Authorities are searching for a suspected serial flasher in the Escondido area.

From May 5 to May 11, law enforcement received reports of the man exposing himself to several women while seated in his vehicle near the 2400 block of South Escondido Boulevard and Cranston Drive, the Escondido Police Department said on Facebook Tuesday.

“The suspect drove alongside the unsuspecting women and, after making a lewd comment, directed the women to his indecent acts,” the social media post read.

The suspect, described as a heavyset man with a round face and facial hair, was last driving an older gray or black Volvo station wagon.

Police believe there may be more victims and are advising them or anyone with information about the incidents to contact Officer Martin Mohammed at 760-839-4442.

The Escondido Police Department provided some safety tips to be aware of about these type of criminals:

  • They often look for unsuspecting women who are out on a walk or returning to their car in a parking lot;

  • They attempt to get the victim’s attention and call them to their vehicle under the ruse of a question;

  • They will then direct the attention to the lewd act;

  • Avoid responding to or approaching men trying to get the attention of young women or children;

  • Do not confront the suspect, but instead immediately contact police and report the details of the crime.
