Man shot in North Chicago; high school placed on soft lockdown

NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. — A man was shot in North Chicago Monday morning which caused a nearby high school to be placed on a soft lockdown.

Officers responded to the area of Hervey and 15th on the report of shots fired just after 9:55 a.m. Police located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his torso.

He was transported to an area hospital and his condition was not provided. Due to the proximity of the scene to North Chicago High School, the school was placed on a soft lockdown.

SkyCam9 overhead showed several shell casings marked out on the ground.
