Man severely injured in southwest Memphis house fire

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is in critical condition after his southwest Memphis home caught fire Wednesday afternoon, according to the Memphis Fire Department.

The MFD responded to the reported house fire in the 3500 block of Cane Ridge Drive, where crews arrived to find a 55-year-old man outside the home with burns to his arms, legs, and face.

Reports say the fire is now under control and the man has been transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.

According to the MFD, the fire was accidental and caused by a leaf blower. The man was fixing it inside the home when it caught on fire.

The fire caused $4,500 in structural damage to the home and $1,500 worth of damage to the home’s contents.
