Man seriously injured after his gun was grabbed in argument, suspect arrested: Rock Hill Police

ROCK HILL, SC (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man has been arrested following a shooting Monday evening that injured two, according to the Rock Hill Police Department.

Around 5 p.m., officers say they were called to a shooting in the 100 block of Herlong Avenue. They found a 22-year-old man with a serious injury to his mouth and a 20-year-old woman who had been grazed.

Officers were told that a man wearing all black had fled on a bicycle. A K-9 team then found the suspect, 22-year-old Lamarius Devon Howze, on South Cherry Road.

According to authorities, Howze saw the two victims drive into a parking lot on Herlong Avenue and recognized them. Howze and the male victim got into an argument, in which the male victim showed a gun.

Howze grabbed the gun and started shooting at the two who were driving away, officials say. Howze was arrested and is charged with the following:

  • Attempted Murder

  • Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature

  • Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime

  • Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle

Police say the gun used was found.
