Man released from jail on bond arrested again for attempted kidnapping

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man who was released on bond Tuesday related to charges of false imprisonment and assault was arrested again Friday morning, this time for trying to kidnap a Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet School student.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said on Friday, April 26, the 15-year-old female student saw a man, identified as 26-year-old Jamien Taylor, watching and then following her as she got off a school bus on 17th Avenue North. She then started running with Taylor in pursuit and made it safely inside the school building where she notified adults.

MNPD officers quickly arrived in the area and stopped a WeGo bus Taylor was aboard near the intersection of 17th Avenue North and Charlotte Avenue. Taylor was taken into custody without incident and admitted to running after the student, according to investigators.

Taylor is charged with attempted kidnapping and assault. His bond is set at $75,000, which will require a source hearing before a judge before he could be considered for release.

Taylor’s arrest this week comes just one week after he was arrested for making sexual advances toward a woman in an elevator.

During that incident on Wednesday, April 17, police said Taylor allegedly followed a woman into an elevator near Public Square Park and made unwanted sexual advances toward her. He was charged with false imprisonment and assault.

The Community Bail Fund posted his $3,000 bond on Tuesday, April 23, and he was released.

“The safety of our community should be a real consideration in the setting of bonds and pre-trial release conditions,” Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake said. “That should involve weighing the nature of offenses and the specific details alleged in arrest warrant affidavits. It’s no secret that our officers are dealing with the same people time and again.”
