Man killed after SUV crashed into tree, overturned in Nelson County

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a crash that resulted in the death of a man in Nelson County on May 10.

According to state police, the crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Piedmont Road. Troopers said 63-year-old Harry B. Bare, II, of Bedford, was driving a 2000 Honda CR-V north on Piedmont Road when he allegedly crossed the center line.

Investigators said, the Honda then ran off the road, slammed into a tree, and overturned, partially ejecting Bare from the SUV.

Bare was pronounced dead at the scene.

VSP said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
