Man killed in multi-vehicle crash on US-220 in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)– Virginia State Police reports a man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 220 near Burgess Road in Franklin County on Friday, May 24.

According to VSP, a 2018 Ford F-150, driven by 48-year-old Christopher Jeffery Perry of Apex, North Carolina, was traveling north when his vehicle allegedly crossed the median and struck a 2003 Freightliner tractor-trailer truck head-on traveling south. The vehicle then struck a 2023 Nissan Altima also in the southbound lane.

VSP reports Perry died at the scene. He was reportedly wearing his seatbelt during the time of the crash.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, who was also wearing his seatbelt, was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, and the driver of the Nissan was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation. WFXR News will update this story as further information is released.
